As a tester whenever you are asked to write test case documentation we should not just start from an adhoc manner. It is very important to understand the purpose of writing test cases well before you work on  the documentation process. The tests should be clear and lucid.They  should be written in a way that offers the tester ease to conduct the complete testing by following the steps defined in each of the tests.
